Krzysztof Soszyński (Template:IPA-pl; born August 2, 1977) is a Polish Canadian professional mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter. He fought for the Los Angeles Anacondas of the International Fight League (IFL). After the demise of that organization, he moved to the UFC, appearing on season 8 of The Ultimate Fighter. Soszynski is currently ranked #6 by Sportsnet.ca's Canadian pound-for-pound MMA rankings.[1]
Early life[]
Soszynski was born in Stalowa Wola, Poland. He lived there until the age of 10 when his family moved to Winnipeg, Canada. He played football and soccer for Maples Collegiate, but later turned to bodybuilding and then pro wrestling. Soszynski trained in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under black belt and gym owner, Rodrigo Munduruca, in Winnipeg. He worked as a houseman at the Fairmont Winnipeg Hotel and as a promoter of local MMA events in Manitoba.[2]
Martial arts background[]
Soszynski comes from a different background than many IFL athletes: he was a professional wrestler for a time. After learning some Jiu Jitsu moves from fellow professional wrestler Bad News Brown who was a bronze medalist at an Olympic games, Soszynski decided that his future was in mixed martial arts.[2]. A ground-and-pound specialist, he has also improved his striking proficiently and is competent both standing and on the mat. He also trains under Dan Henderson at Team Quest in Temecula, California alongside Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou.

Soszynski entered The Ultimate Fighter, where he defeated Mike Stewart and Kyle Kingsbury on the way to the semifinals, where he lost to Vinicius Magalhaes.
UFC Career[]
Soszynski made his debut against former Ultimate Fighter castmate Shane Primm, whom he defeated by kimura. It was awarded submission of the night.
His second fight was at UFC 97 where Soszynski won a second consecutive submission of the night by forcing former Marine and former WEC light heavyweight champion Brian Stann to tap out to a Kimura.
Soszynski stepped in as a late replacement for Houston Alexander and he knocked out Andre Gusmao at 3:17 in the first round of their preliminary fight at UFC 98.
Most recently, Soszynski stepped in as a replacement for an injured Matt Hamill to fight Brandon Vera at UFC 102 in Portland, Oregon.[3] Soszynski lost via decision, bringing his UFC record down to 3-1.
Soszynski next faced Stephan Bonnar on February 21, 2010 at UFC 110.[4] Soszynski was victorious via third round TKO due to a cut, though the victory was shadowed by an accidental headbutt that caused the cut, creating controversy over the victory. The New South Wales Sports Combat Authority is currently overlooking the fight which could result in the decision being overturned, depending on the judges’ scorecards after round two. The New South Wales Sports Combat Authority have ruled against overturning the decision. Both fighters have stated that there is need for a rematch. [5]

Krzysztof is married to Geneviève and has a son named Nicholas.[6]
